Where to actually meet Anthropic engineers in London

A realistic guide to public events where Anthropic's London team has spoken or shown up — no insider claims, just publicly listed meetups and conferences.

Kate FletcherKate Fletcher·21 March 2026·3 min read·London

Companion piece to the Anthropic London office post — this one is purely the "where do I plausibly bump into the team in the wild" version.

Quick framing: I am not claiming any of these have guaranteed Anthropic attendance. I am listing public events where their engineers have spoken or which the company has publicly run. Big difference.

The reliably good ones

Anthropic Builders evenings. When these run, they are the most direct route. Listed on Luma, fill up in an hour or two, usually a short demo and Q&A format. Not monthly — keep an eye out.

London AI Tuesdays at the Conduit. Long-running, well attended, draws speakers from across the AI scene. Anthropic engineers have spoken here multiple times. Free, RSVP early.

MLOps Community London meetups. Slightly more infra-flavoured but the audience overlaps heavily. The lineup has included people from most of the major labs.

The "you might get lucky" tier

Y Combinator and Entrepreneur First demo nights. Founder-heavy, but a chunk of the audience is from the labs. Anthropic engineers have judged or mentored at some.

FT events with an AI track. Bigger, more corporate, more suits. Useful if you want to hear someone speak rather than have a chat. Tickets are not cheap.

Sifted summits. Same vibe as FT but slightly more startup-flavoured.

Hackathons

The London AI hackathon scene has had Anthropic mentors and judges show up at several events run by groups like Encode Club and various university-adjacent organisers. The London hackathon feed is the best way to track them.

If you actually build something with Claude during a hackathon, you have a much better excuse to talk to them than "I read your safety paper" — which, recieved opinion aside, is what every fifth person opens with.

Don't bother

  • Random "AI networking" Eventbrite things at coworking spaces. Mostly recruiters and consultants. No labs.
  • The ones charging £80+ for "exclusive AI dinner" with no named speakers. Skip.
  • LinkedIn Live "fireside chats" with no in-person component.

How to actually have a useful conversation

If you do end up in the same room as someone from Anthropic — or any of the big labs, honestly — the rules are the same:

  1. Have a specific question. "What do you think about safety" is not a question.
  2. Know one of their papers or one of their product changes well enough to reference it.
  3. Do not pitch your startup in the first 90 seconds.
  4. If they say they cannot answer something, they cannot. Move on.

This is not unique to AI, it is just being a normal human at a meetup, but the AI scene has a lot of people who forget the basics.

Quick weekly habit

I rotate through these:

  • Tuesday: AI Tuesdays if a friend is going.
  • Wednesday: whatever MLOps or Eng-focused thing is on.
  • Thursday: the bigger ticketed talks if there is one.
  • Saturday: a hackathon roughly once a month.

That cadence has me running into people from most of the London labs at least once a month, no special access required.

For the rolling list, AI events in London is the page I keep open. New events get added daily and the search filters by free vs paid.

Final note

Stop asking strangers on Twitter for the Anthropic Christmas party invite list. There is no list. Show up to public stuff for six months and you will know enough people to hear about the better ones from a friend.

FAQ

Will Anthropic engineers definitely be at these events?
No promises. These are events Anthropic has either spoken at or run publicly. Attendance varies week to week.
Do I need to be a developer?
For most of these, yes — at least a passing interest in building with the API. The non-technical events are flagged below.

AI Tuesdays at the Conduit is genuinely the best one. Get there at 6, talks at 6:30.

The "do not pitch in the first 90 seconds" rule needs printing on the door of every event.

  • Rohan D.·22 Mar 2026

Builders evenings sold out in like 40 minutes last time. The Luma waitlist is not a polite suggestion.

  • Mei L.·22 Mar 2026

Useful list. The MLOps community is way more welcoming than the FT events tbh.

Found this via rifio search, the AI events page is genuinely better than Luma's own discovery.

Hackathon point is correct. Built something with the API at one in November and the conversations were 10x more substantive.

£80 AI dinners are mental. Who is buying these.

  • Inka N.·23 Mar 2026

The recieved opinion typo is killing me but otherwise spot on.

YC London demo nights are also a credible one to add. Saw a few lab people at the last one.
