Top things to do in San Francisco, week of March 30
A handpicked roundup of the best events in San Francisco for the week of March 30: AI demos, a Mission warehouse party, two underrated talks, and one outdoor thing that does not involve a marathon.
Short week, decent slate. SF in late March is the moment the calendar wakes up — Y Combinator demo prep is in the air, the AI scene is back from spring breaks, and Dolores Park is finally usable on a Saturday. Here are the seven things I'd actually show up to.
If you only want one filter, the SF this-week feed is the version of this list that updates daily.
Monday — AI Tinkerers Demo Night, SoMa
Five demos, eight minutes each, free RSVP. The most consistent signal-to-noise in the city. Goes hard around the YC batch transition, which is right now. Show up by 6:15 or you stand by the pizza.
Tuesday — Latent Space drinks, Mission
Biweekly informal drinks tied to the podcast. No agenda, mostly engineers, the kind of room where someone casually mentions an eval result that would be a tweet thread anywhere else. Free. Rotates between Sightglass and a Folsom spot.
Wednesday — "What we got wrong about RAG" talk, Hayes Valley
Hosted at a small office in Hayes Valley, real engineers, no recruiter slides. The talk is alot more honest than the conference version of it would be. Followed by drinks across the street. Limited RSVP, check the link the day before.
Thursday — Cerebral Valley unofficial drinks
The self-organising one. People drift to Verve and Souvenir Coffee in Hayes Valley around 6pm. No host, no list. The vibe is high through April because the spring fundraising cycle is loud right now.
Friday — Public Works basement, Mission
Underrated club night, deep house lineup that is not on most tourist lists. Doors at 10. Bring earplugs. Cash for the coat check, they hate the card reader.
Saturday — Presidio trail run + brunch, Crissy Field
Not a race. A casual 5k that meets at the warming hut at 9, runs the Battery to Bluffs trail, ends at brunch. Friendly to all paces. Genuine alternative to whatever marathon thing your group chat is pushing.
Sunday — "Founders Read Fiction" book club, Bernal Heights
Yes that is the actual name. Yes the joke is intentional. They actually read the book. Started by an ex-Stripe PM, meets monthly in a backyard. Honestly the most interesting room of the week most months.
What I'm skipping
The big sponsored AI summit at the Marriott. Ticket price is sus given the speaker list, and the after-party is recruiter-heavy. The lineup at the smaller venues is much stronger this week.
If you want this curated weekly without me having to write a post, Rifio's weekly digest for SF covers the same ground.

Public Works basement is criminally underrated. Best room in the city for actual heads.

The Founders Read Fiction thing is real and weirdly the best networking I did all of last year.

Found three of these via rifio search this morning. Saved me an hour of luma scrolling.

Skip the Marriott summit, agree. Same six speakers as January.

Crissy Field run is a hidden gem. They have decent bagels at the end too.

Latent Space drinks Tuesday — confirmed Sightglass not Folsom this week.

Cerebral Valley drinks Thursday is becoming way too crowded honestly. Fine for two months ago.

No raves on Saturday? Slow week.
