About
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a secular, evidence-informed approach to mindfulness that trains present-moment awareness through practices like breath awareness, body scanning, and gentle inquiry. Developed to help people relate more skillfully to stress, pain, and everyday challenges, it emphasizes non-judgment, curiosity, and compassion rather than fixing or forcing outcomes.
It was developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, a molecular biologist who integrated mindfulness practices drawn from ancient long traditions into a secular, clinical setting.
Vipassana, meaning “clear seeing,” is a traditional insight meditation practice that cultivates direct awareness of bodily sensations, thoughts, and emotions as they arise and pass. By observing experience with steadiness and equanimity, practitioners develop insight into impermanence, reactivity, and the nature of mind. The foundations of Vipassana have strongly informed modern mindfulness practices such as MBSR.
Helen Clare Rozario, is a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) facilitator in training with UCSD Medical School’s Centre For Mindfulness adapted for contemporary, high-agency communities.
Her guidance focuses on nervous system regulation, stress awareness, and embodied attention as foundations for clearer thinking, brain health, healthier behavioral patterns, and sustainable performance optimisation.
Helen trained in MBSR through the University of California San Diego School of Medicine’s Center for Mindfulness and brings her facilitation into educational, community, and founder-led environments. She is particularly interested in how mindfulness supports self-regulation, neurodiversity, chronic pain, lifestyle coherence, and long-term wellbeing in complex, high-cognitive-load settings.
Who is MBSR for?
