The contribution day is a chance for anyone to contribute to LocalGov Drupal and to Drupal in general - whether you write code, create content, or are just curious and want to get involved for the first time.
It is also a chance to scratch your own itch and to get help with changes you want to see, whether that's fixing a bug, changing existing functionality, or bringing new functionality to the project.
How the day works
We'll run 3–4 workstreams that you can join based on your interests and skills. We'll come together three times during the day to share progress and regroup. Experienced contributors will be on hand to help anyone working on their first issue.
Proposed workstreams
AccessibilityWork through accessibility issues in the LGD backlog. Primarily for developers, but a great way to make a real difference to the people who use council websites.
LocalGov Drupal backlogFocused development on key issues and features in the LGD backlog. We'll agree on 2–3 priorities on the day (at our last Dev Days, for example, we aimed to ship a stable release of LocalGov Elections). First-time contributors are very welcome – there will be people available to help you work through your first issue.
Microsites backlogFocused development on the LGD Microsites product, including fixing issues and writing missing documentation.
DocumentationHelp migrate content from our current docs site into the new LGD site. This workstream is primarily for content designers and editors – no technical knowledge needed, though some front-end developer support may be helpful. The new site is adopting a design system approach, so this is a chance to help shape how LGD content is structured going forward.
Working on your own thing
If you'd rather spend the day working on something of your own related to LocalGov Drupal, that's absolutely fine too. The contribution day is about giving people the space and the company to get things done.
