About this event

You are invited to our inaugural The LA Local Open House 2026, a gathering of the people making LA stronger and more connected: journalists who live in the neighborhoods they cover, community organizers holding power accountable, Documenters expanding civic participation, artists reflecting our city's soul, and neighbors and supporters who believe trusted local news matters. LA Connected is the theme for this year’s gathering and is proudly supported by The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation and the University of California, Merced. Join us for an evening of: •Exploring the newsroom and meeting the reporters, editors, and youth journalists telling stories that matter• Experiencing live performances celebrating a connected Los Angeles, including spoken word poetry by Get Lit, artists from The Neighborhood Orchestra Collective, the band WAR's harmonica player and vocalist Tetsuya "Tex" Nakamura, and more. • Enjoying food and drinks reflecting our region's beautiful diversity• Seeing firsthand how community-centered journalism works and sharing your own perspective of local stories you want to see reflected in the newsroom Arrival and check-in Due to space limitations, this invitation is reserved specifically for you and is non-transferable. Thank you for being part of a more connected LA! We'd love to see you there.
