Abstract Painting Club- Kyungseo Lee, Aaron Kudi, Frank Bowling, Nigel Cooke, and Amy Sillman
(Cover art by Aaron Kudi)
Join our 12-week Abstract Painting Club, exploring the work of five abstract painters- Kyungseo Lee, Aaron Kudi, Frank Bowling, Nigel Cooke, and Amy Sillman. These artists have been selected for their expressive use of paint, layered textures, and energetic approaches to abstraction. Every two weeks we focus on one painter, beginning each session with a group discussion on themes, materials, and techniques, followed by a demonstration and optional questioning.
Work in a way that feels personal to you, while trying out the methods and ideas of the featured artists to broaden your painting practice. The course wraps up each session with group feedback, giving space to reflect and discuss your work.
Cost: £240 (£10 an hour, £20 a session)
Up to 25% concession rates are available for people experiencing financial hardship, including low- or no-income households and students who are genuinely in need. If this applies to you, please email us. We operate on trust.
With only 12 places available, the group stays intimate and interactive, ensuring personal guidance and support.
If you’d like, you can attend the class together at someone’s house, but both participants must be enrolled, as the 12-place limit ensures everyone receives feedback time. This is a great opportunity to discover new artists, experiment with painterly techniques, and connect with other creatives.
Ensure you set up a dedicated space beforehand where you can paint freely and get a bit messy if needed.
Dates:
20th April – 20th July 7-9pm
(There will be no class on the 4th of May and half term break is on the 25th May)
