A Night of Global Grooves & Indian Classical Fusion

At Wanakam, we believe the best kind of music doesn't just sit in the background—it starts a conversation. On Saturday, May 2nd, we are thrilled to host ACHHA, an Amsterdam-based ensemble that perfectly mirrors the spirit of our space: rooted in tradition, yet vibrantly contemporary and impossible to box in.

The Sound

Led by the incredible Sandhya Sanjana, whose vocals bridge the gap between soulful Indian classical motifs and the grit of urban jazz, ACHHA is a masterclass in "Global Groove." This isn't your standard fusion; it’s a sophisticated, high-energy dialogue between Indian ragas, deep funk, and rhythmic jazz.
Fresh off their standout performances for Amsterdam’s 750th Anniversary and the Bevrijdingsfestival, the band brings a tight, seasoned energy to our intimate Oost home. Whether you're here to close your eyes and get lost in the composition or to find a rhythm on the floor, ACHHA delivers a sound that is both emotionally resonant and "irresistibly danceable."
