State of the State: AI Policy Forum

by AI LA Events

About this event

Each quarter, AI LA will convene technologists, builders, and policy-curious professionals for a timely, grounded discussion on AI legislation—what’s passed, what’s coming, and what it actually means in practice. With a primary focus on California and clear line-of-sight to federal positioning, this forum is designed to move beyond headlines and political theater to unpack real consequences: how new laws shape product development, reporting obligations, corporate behavior, and public infrastructure initiatives like CalCompute. The conversation will bring multiple perspectives into the room—state insiders, safety and alignment experts, policy and economics specialists, and AI founders—to debate tradeoffs, surface pros and cons, and clarify what’s actionable now versus what’s still aspirational. Open to the broader tech community and anyone interested in AI’s future, this program aims to build shared understanding and sharper judgment at the intersection of technology, policy, and power.
