Personalised Computing

For most of computing history, software has been mass-produced. You downloaded an app. You adapted to it. You learned its rules. That’s starting to change. AI is lowering the cost of turning ideas into working software. Vibe coding lets people build by describing what they want in plain language, helping developers move faster and opening the door for non-technical builders. The line between user and creator is beginning to blur. The question is no longer “can we build it?” but “what should we build?” This points to what we’re calling personalised computing: a shift from software built for millions to software shaped by individuals around their own needs. Not apps you download, but tools you make. We'll have Gabriel, Hui Chien, and Yong Quan share their perspectives from developer platforms, public sector experimentation, and the builder community. Through conversational discussions, explore why personalised computing is emerging now, what it looks like in practice, and where it might be headed. More About the Speakers: Gabriel Chua is a Developer Experience Engineer at OpenAI, where he enables developers to build with AI. Previously, he was a data scientist at GovTech Singapore, where he worked on Responsible AI research, and developed LLM systems to combat online scams. Loy Hui Chien is a public officer on sabbatical, spending his time building things with AI and figuring out what personalised computing means for how we work. A long-time computing enthusiast, he views generative AI as the most exciting shift in decades, and joined Lorong AI to find others who feel the same way. Tan Yong Quan is the Chapter Lead for AI Tinkerers Singapore, a community meetup by builders, for builders. He previously spent two years as a Data and Software Engineer at a Singapore-based life sciences startup, building across the full data and software stack.
