About the Exhibition
Claiming Spaces was born from a vital necessity: the need to look at ourselves unfiltered, without permission, and without compromise. The exhibition brings together women artists whose perspectives share a common urgency to reclaim ownership of themselves in a world that constantly questions their legitimacy.
Through diverse practices, the artists explore the body, identity, memory, and transmission. Their works speak of inherited silences, long-contained voices, and the invisible tensions that shape women’s lives. Sensitive without being docile, poetic yet charged with strength, these works reveal vulnerability as much as resistance.
Rather than asking permission to exist, the artworks assert themselves. They occupy space, cross it, and transform it. The exhibition does not offer definitive answers but instead opens spaces for reflection, confrontation, and recognition, spaces that are claimed because they have too often been denied.

Each artist, through her own visual language, contributes to this collective assertion: to exist fully, without compromise.
My take on the exhibit, by Art Gallivant:
In this day and age, we often forget that the lives of women remain shaped by societal norms and patriarchal structures. Yet women have always found ways to shift the narrative.
This exhibition highlights the lives of women in all their beauty, joy, and journey. Moving through the world with an intuitive and embodied spirit, they invite others into that nurturing power. Today’s woman embraces her gifts and strives to influence society while strengthening our shared sense of humanity.
Claiming spaces is how this happens.Today, it is no longer about asking. It is about taking.
