About this event

Green 2.0’s 2025 Transparency Report found that less than one-third of nonprofits offer formal mentoring programs for their staff. Strong mentorship practices can drive advancing inclusion for all communities and breaking down barriers to access in the environmental sector. When the environmental workforce is left on their own to figure out how to find a mentor, it can feel overwhelming, especially when you don’t know where to start. Mentorship can be transformative, but finding the right mentor isn’t just about networking, it’s about building the skills, confidence, and clarity that can connect you with the right person to support your career goals. Presented at DC Climate Week, this mentee focused panel will explore how to seek out mentorship, cultivate meaningful professional relationships, and use those opportunities to grow your environmental career as an entry, early career or mid-level career professional.

Participants will leave with actionable strategies to:

Research and find mentors who align with their career and personal growth goals.Know what type of mentorship best fits their needs.Navigate outreach to potential mentors with confidence.Prepare for meetings with mentors to get the most out of them. Turn mentorship into long-term professional growth.

Speakers:

Maliyah Womack, Community Engagement SpecialistKat So, Campaign Manager Energy & Environment, Center for American ProgressCarlos Ochoa, Ocean Advocacy ProfessionalModerated by: Juliana Ojeda, Program Operations Manager, Green 2.0

Following the panel, we will have light snacks and beverages for attendees to enjoy while networking with each other.
