San Francisco has long been a national leader in waste reduction, but moving to a truly circular economy requires more than diverting materials from landfills: it demands a systems-wide transformation of how the city designs, builds, feeds, and produces. The SF Environment Department (SFE) is releasing an update to its Climate Action Plan (CAP) on April 16. As part of the CAP, SFE has committed to preparing a circular economy roadmap for the city, outlining ambitious strategies across the built environment, food systems, and the goods and services economy.
Join SPUR and SFE for a Climate Month conversation to discuss what it will take to put San Francisco on a credible path toward circularity. This event invites policymakers, practitioners, and community members to engage with the roadmap and help shape the next steps for implementation.
To continue the conversation a short 7-min walk away, register to join the AIASF COTE Symposium "Circularity in Practice" from 12:30 - 7PM, where participants will gain actionable insights into how circular design will transform their practice or business, and help to drive the transition toward a regenerative, reduced waste, low-carbon world!
