Altea Sydney: Sunrise Week Investor Meetup 🌅

​Hey there, we're Altea, and we invest in the world's best alternative assets.

Each year, founders and investors from around the world gather in Sydney for the annual Sunrise conference, hosted by Blackbird Ventures.

It’s Australia’s best-run startup event, bringing together founders, operators, and investors for a few days of conversations about what’s coming next in technology and venture.

Since many of us will already be in town that week, we’re hosting an alternative investing meetup in Sydney for members and friends of the community.

This will be a relaxed afternoon gathering at The Old Clare Hotel, just around the corner from the conference venue at Carriageworks.

🔎 What to expect

Expect a casual setting — drinks, conversation, and a chance to connect with fellow alternative investors and founders who are in town for Sunrise week.

At Altea meetups, the conversation is focused on the kinds of stuff our community invests in: alternative assets, unusual investment opportunities, and the various projects members are exploring.

We'll also talk about our current and upcoming SPVs, including Maritime I (shipwreck recovery financing) and Whisky I (Japanese whisky casks)

We’ll have a reserved area in the Clare Bar from 3:00–5:00 PM, which should give us a comfortable window to meet up before the evening events begin across the city.

👥 Who's joining?

This will be a small, informal gathering of Altea members, founders, and investors who happen to be in Sydney for Sunrise week.

Because so many startup founders will also be in Sydney for the conference, we’re working with Blackbird to invite one or two founders to join the gathering and briefly share what they’re building and where they are in their fundraising journey.

Blackbird-backed companies are among the most serious and ambitious startups in the region, so if we’re able to bring a founder or two into the room, you can expect a very high-quality conversation about what they’re building and where the opportunity may lie.

As always with Altea events, the group will be intentionally small so that conversations can stay relaxed and meaningful. No formal presentation, no hard sales, just a chance to meet interesting people, exchange ideas, and see what alternative opportunities are out there.

If you haven’t been before, Sunrise is Blackbird’s annual founder gathering held at Carriageworks in Sydney, drawing some of the most interesting startup builders and investors in the region. The event spans two days of talks, discussions, and community events across the city.
