Neil Campbell is Chief Growth Officer at Smol, the sustainable, disruptive DTC home cleaning brand. In his role at Smol, he is responsible for new customer acquisition, ongoing engagement, commercial design and customer data insight helping grow the company to over half a million subscribers.
About Neil Campbell
Originally from Northern Ireland and trained as a chemical engineer, Neil has a varied career that started on oil rigs in West Africa and has covered both corporate and start-up worlds. After management consulting, with OC&C Strategy Consultants, he did an MBA at Harvard Business School and worked at Amazon UK eventually leading the handheld electronics category. Neil left Amazon to join a small Series-A start-up, Rangespan, which had a successful exit, being bought by Google after 2 years.After a brief (and unfulfilling!) stint in gambling at Betfair, Neil has now been attracted to the emerging area of Growth within Series B/C DTC scale-ups. He has worked at Majestic/Naked Wines (retail / subscription wine), Moneybox (mobile-based investing platform) and finally smol. While this group of companies can be quite disparate, they share a focus on subscription-style economics and ongoing LTV, a consumer-centric approach and a product that customers are passionate about.
Neil is a modern, data-focused marketing leader, who brings a continuous learning and honest approach to his work and life.
