Climate on the Klamath is a full day of expert presentations and panel discussions on the future of energy, environmental law, coastal resilience, aviation, and more. The event kicks off SF Climate Week aboard the Historic Klamath and is hosted by the Bay Area Council, the business association and public policy institute for the San Francisco Bay Area & Silicon Valley.
Join us for our 3 PM panel hosted by Stanford University: Powering Everything Everywhere All The Time: A Path Toward an Electrically Resilient Bay Area
As the Bay Area confronts escalating climate challenges—from wildfire-driven Public Safety Power Shutoffs to extreme heat events straining the grid—the region stands at a critical juncture in reimagining its energy infrastructure. This panel will explore how distributed generation, battery storage, microgrids, and demand-response technologies can create a more resilient electrical system capable of supporting our increasingly electrified economy—from AI computing clusters to electric vehicle charging to building electrification. The conversation will tackle hard questions about infrastructure investment priorities, the tension between centralized and distributed approaches, and how to ensure grid resilience benefits all communities, not just those who can afford private backup systems. Join us for a candid discussion about the technical innovations, business models, and regulatory frameworks needed to build an electrical grid that can truly power everything, everywhere, all the time.
Speakers:- Lincoln Bleveans, Executive Director – Sustainability Utilities & Infrastructure, Stanford University (moderator)- Chris Pruitt, CoreSite- Mark Jacobson, Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Stanford University- Jake Zigelman, Vice President, Bay Area Region, PG&E
Attendees are encouraged to stay for the full day of programming, capped with a reception sponsored by our presenting sponsor Alaska Airlines, along with Farella Braun + Martel, Ramboll, the Port of Redwood City, Stanford University, and PG&E.
