Operational due diligence for scaling companies: legal, compliance & tech
About this event
Scaling? Fundraising? Closing enterprise deals?
At some point, operational due diligence becomes very real. Investors dig. Customers scrutinise. Insurers ask questions. AI adds complexity.
Join us for a panel session on how scaling companies should approach legal, compliance, and technical due diligence!
No chasing perfection. No overbuilding. Just preparing for the stage you’re in.
This session will help you:
🌱 Scale safely without slowing growth
🚩 Avoid red flags that stall deals
🔍 Understand what investors and enterprise customers actually look for
💡 Get clear on AI risk and regulatory exposure
⚖️ Leave with a simple judgement framework to know what to focus on now, what to defer, and what to ignore
You should join us if you're...
✅ An ops leader (COO, Head of Operations, or equivalent) or Founder at a Seed to Series B company, preparing for investor and/or enterprise scrutiny
✅ On a team that wants to scale beyond “move fast and fix later” and mature proportionally without slowing growth
However, you're unlikely to benefit if you're...
❌ In a very early-stage startup that's still working on Product–Market fit and not yet facing due diligence pressure (unless you want to get ahead of it, then come along!)
❌ In a large enterprise with fully built-out legal, compliance, and security departments

Meet our speakers 👋
Helen Goldberg
Co-Founder & COO @ LegalEdge
Helen co-founded LegalEdge 15 years ago and is its COO.
Before LegalEdge, Helen was Head of Legal at various tech and media companies, having been persuaded to move in-house with a client from a large international law firm. (She still describes herself as a recovering M&A / Private Equity lawyer.)
An early member of the Operations Nation community, Helen is a big advocate for its role in supporting operations professionals. Helen is also a champion for flexible working, having been "let go" from a Head of Legal job whilst on maternity leave. (It happens more than you’d think.)
Helen also mentors and advises startups, scaleups, and their in-house lawyers.
Tom Gell
Co-Founder & CEO @ ISO Serious
Tom’s spent over a decade wrestling with security and data protection. Leaving behind senior roles in the public sector, Tom moved into the world of startups and scaleups in 2019 and hasn’t looked back.
He scaled a startup from zero to seven figures ARR, which sounds fancy, but mostly involved lots of coffee, late nights, and muttering “there has to be a better way.”
Now he’s on a mission to make compliance less soul-destroying and more useful. If you think ISO is boring, Tom’s here to prove you (mostly) wrong.
