While landmark legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act sparked a clean energy boom, these gains are now under threat from regulatory rollbacks and economic instability. The 2026 midterms represent a critical “climate moment,” where the focus must shift from policy development to protecting the democratic institutions that enable climate progress. As businesses face increasing volatility, the need for stable, accountable governance has never been more urgent.
In this session, the American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN) will explore why the 2026 midterms are a pivotal opportunity for climate action. ASBN is mobilizing business leaders to elevate the role of the business community as advocates for stability, innovation, and responsible governance, centered on three key pillars: Affordability, Security, and Business Opportunity.
Rather than focusing on narrow policy debates, this effort brings together business and community leaders to demonstrate how strong democratic institutions and stable policy frameworks drive economic growth and climate progress. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the stakes and be invited to join a growing coalition working to secure the conditions necessary for meaningful climate action in the years ahead.
