At this year’s SF Climate Week, Powerhouse will host a landmark live conversation with Alex Honnold; one of the most iconic athletes of our generation.
Honnold is the climber behind the Academy Award–winning documentary Free Solo and the first person in history to free solo El Capitan, an achievement widely regarded as one of the most extraordinary feats in modern sport. His ascent permanently expanded our understanding of human focus, risk, and possibility.
Today, Alex brings that same clarity of purpose to climate. As founder of the Honnold Foundation, he supports community-scale solar projects around the world, working to expand access to clean, reliable energy.
In this special live recording of Watt It Takes, Emily Kirsch will explore the throughline between extreme performance and global impact; returning to Alex’s early years, the mindset behind free soloing, and how discipline, risk tolerance, and conviction translate from vertical granite walls to accelerating clean energy access world-wide.
This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from a once-in-a-generation athlete whose impact extends far beyond the rock face.
Tickets are $40, and all profits from the event will be donated to the Honnold Foundation.
