Everyone is welcome to Open House at Upshur Community Garden, presented at DC Climate Week. Observe, ask questions, and volunteer alongside gardeners as they prepare soil for spring, pull weeds, and talk urban, organic gardening, mutual food aid, and composting. Urban gardens mitigate climate change in many ways. All ages welcome.
Follow the path beside the soccer field across from Powell Elementary School and enter through the garden gates. Please bring gloves, a bottle of water, and wear long sleeves & pants if you plan to volunteer.
Drop-ins welcome. Stay for a few minutes or the full time. Optional volunteer tasks may include weeding, digging, picking up trash, planting seeds, tidying, and pruning.
