Six Dubai rooftops the locals do not post about
Six Dubai rooftops that are not on every TikTok feed yet, from a quiet Karama hotel terrace to a Business Bay residential club a friend got me into. Real, honest, no fake codes.
My main rooftops list (the one with Cé La Vi at the top) is the one I send to anyone landing in the city for a long weekend. This is the second list — the smaller rooftops that have not yet ended up in every TikTok carousel, and that I would rather keep that way, but here we are.
I keep my saved venues for these on Rifio so I can spot when one of them runs a takeover or a private night — the Dubai events page catches most of them.
1. The Lighthouse rooftop, DIFC
Above the Lighthouse bookshop café in DIFC, accessed via a small staircase nobody seems to notice. The roof terrace seats around fifteen, and almost nobody knows it has a working bar.
AED 100 minimum spend, walk-in. The cocktails are good, the food is the same menu as downstairs, and the view of the DIFC garden plaza is calmer than any of the headline rooftops. Best between 6pm and 9pm.
2. Bla Bla rooftop deck, JBR Beach
Bla Bla is one of the busiest beach bars in JBR, and the upper deck is a separate room — fewer photos, a cooler crowd, and a bar that is never four-deep. The DJ booth is on the lower deck which means the upper deck is at a sane volume.
AED 120 minimum, walk-in. Tuesdays through Thursdays are the calmest. Friday is loud everywhere on JBR; do not pretend this rooftop is the exception.
3. Sucre rooftop, Palm Jumeirah
A sister venue to the Buenos Aires original. The Dubai branch is on the Palm and the rooftop is the move — the wood-fired menu is honest, the wine list leans Argentine, and the room is one of the more beautiful on the Palm without being one of the loudest.
AED 200 minimum, book. The 7:30pm slot is the right one.
4. 21 Grams, Karama
This one feels like cheating because it is not really a rooftop in the AED 600-bottle sense. It is a brunch-and-coffee café in Karama with a small evening rooftop that almost nobody goes upstairs to.
AED 75 minimum, walk-in. The cocktails are excellent, the food is Balkan-inflected and unusual, and the room seats maybe twelve. The Karama location keeps the influencer crowd away because it does not photograph as a Dubai-rooftop the way the Marina ones do.
Wallah this is one of my favourite rooftops in the city.
5. Akiba Dori rooftop, Alserkal Avenue
Akiba Dori is the Japanese street-food spot in Alserkal. The main floor is the room everyone goes to; the rooftop is the small terrace above the kitchen, and most evenings it is half-empty.
AED 80 minimum, walk-in. The yakitori is excellent, the highballs are correctly poured, and the price ceiling is about a third of what the headline rooftops will charge you. The seperate door at the back is the way up.
6. The Gramercy rooftop, DIFC
The Gramercy is the New York-style bar in DIFC. The main floor is dense and busy after 8pm; the rooftop is a smaller terrace above, and on most weeknights you can walk up.
AED 150 minimum, walk-in for the rooftop, the main floor is reservation-only on weekends. The cocktails are correctly serious, the food is bar food, the music is sensible. The DIFC late-night move is a Penrose drink at 7, dinner at Sushisamba at 8, then this rooftop until 11.
A few honest notes.
On the word "secret". None of these are secret. They are all listed on Google Maps. They are simply less photographed than the headline rooftops, which is what "hidden gem" actually means in 2026 internet language. The smallest rooftop on this list (the Lighthouse) is also the easiest to find — just walk up the stairs.
On reservations. Three of the six (Sucre, the main bar at Bla Bla, the Gramercy main floor at weekends) need a booking. The other three will seat you walk-in on a weeknight before 8pm without trouble.
On dress. All six are smart casual. The Sucre and Gramercy main floors lean a little smarter, but the rooftops on top of them are more relaxed. Trainers are fine.
On price. The price ceiling on these rooftops is genuinely lower than on the headline list. You can have a serious evening at the Lighthouse or 21 Grams for under AED 200 a head, which is unusual in 2026 Dubai. Use that.
I will be at the Lighthouse on the next quiet Tuesday and 21 Grams on a Wednesday I have nothing else on. Find me there.
Save the ones you fancy on Rifio so you do not forget — the Dubai events page covers the venues that run special nights at these.

FAQ
- Are these actually secret?
- No, none of them are secret in the literal sense. They are all open to the public or open with a polite enquiry. They are simply not on every Dubai influencer feed yet, which is the only kind of "secret" the algorithm respects.
- Any discount codes?
- No. Anyone selling you a "use code RIFIO20 at the door" rooftop is making it up. None of these have a partnership and none have a code.
- Reservation needed?
- For three of the six, yes. The other three will seat you walk-in on a weeknight before 8pm. Specifics in each entry.
