Manchester half-price Monday deals that are actually worth turning up for
Manchester restaurants and bars doing real half-price Mondays in 2026 — Hispi, Erst, Tast, Gymkhana — and the ones not worth the queue.
Mondays in Manchester used to be dead. Half the Northern Quarter shut, the Spinningfields chain restaurants doing a quiet 30% off the chain menu. That's changed in the last two years. Hispi started doing its half-price weekday thing and the rest of the city followed.
A Monday lunch at Hispi for £15 instead of £30 is one of those deals that feels almost too good. Same kitchen, same wine list, same bread. The catch: you have to book three weeks ahead now because every food blog in the North has written about it. Including this one. Sorry.
What's actually half-price
Let's be honest about what these deals are. "Half-price Monday" usually means one of three things:
- Genuinely half off the food bill — Hispi, Tast. Drinks at full price.
- A fixed cheap menu, not actually half of the normal menu — Gymkhana's £25 set lunch, Erst's £18 set.
- A specific item discounted — Common's £10 burger and beer.
All three are good, just know what you're booking. The real bargain tier is type 1 because you're ordering off the proper menu at a chunk less.
The Ancoats run
You can do a proper Monday in Ancoats: lunch at Erst, drinks at Mistress, a walk past Mana to remind yourself it exists, dinner at Sugo. Cost you maybe £40 a head with wine. Nowhere else in the country does Monday like Ancoats does Monday.
What I'm not putting on this list
The chains. Bill's does 50% off mains on Mondays, technically a deal, but you're eating at Bill's. Pizza Express has its national £5 weekday menu, fine if you're six.
I'm also leaving off Tattu, which does a Monday discount but the food has slid badly in the last year and it's alot of money for what it is.
How I find these
Half from Manchester Confidential, half from the actual restaurant Instagrams, half from Rifio's Manchester listings which picks up restaurant launches and one-off chef residencies pretty quickly. The Manchester scene moves faster than people give it credit for — Hispi was practically empty 18 months ago, now you're booking three weeks out for a Monday.
The actual point of this list
Manchester has a quiet thing where the best food in the city is mostly available cheaper than anywhere else in the UK if you're prepared to eat at lunch on a weekday. London Borough Market wishes. The half-price Monday at The French — three courses from a Michelin-recommended kitchen for under £40 — is the single best food deal in any UK city full stop. The catch is you have to book exactly four weeks ahead, second the booking opens, and get lucky.
Worth it. Tell three friends, not three hundred.
