The 10 best coworking spaces in Berlin for founders in 2026

Marco Conti ranks the 10 Berlin coworking spaces actually worth the membership fee for founders in 2026 — Mindspace, Factory Berlin, betahaus, St Oberholz, and the smaller ones worth knowing.

Marco ContiMarco Conti·25 April 2026·4 min read·Berlin

Choosing a coworking space in Berlin in 2026 is mostly a question of which network you want to be in. The wifi is the wifi, the desks are the desks. What separates the ten below is who else is in the room and what events the operator runs to get you in front of them. Below is the list, in order of what I'd actually pay for in 2026.

The top of the table

Mindspace is one because the Berlin build-out is properly good and the phone booths are actually soundproofed — a thing that, after using six different operators, is a much bigger deal than it sounds. Two main Berlin sites (Mitte near Friedrichstrasse, Kreuzberg near Schlesisches Tor), the events programme is consistently active, and the membership tiers are flexible enough to scale with a growing team.

Factory Berlin is two because it's still the closest thing Berlin has to a tech-club. Two sites — the Rheinsberger one in Mitte (older, more established) and the Görlitzer Park one (newer, larger, hardware-friendly) — and members are vetted, which keeps the standard up. The cross-pollination between the two locations is genuinely valuable, particularly if you're at a stage where you might bump into investors or larger-stage founders. Apply through the website, expect a few weeks of nothing, accept the timeline.

betahaus in Kreuzberg is the original Berlin coworking and remains, in 2026, the operator with the most active events programme in the city. Demo nights, fundraising panels, founder breakfasts — the calendar is mega and a real fraction of the actual Berlin startup scene moves through the room. The cafe is effectively the lobby, the network is real.

The cafe-coworking originals

St Oberholz at Rosenthaler Platz is the cafe-coworking pioneer that pre-dates most of this list. Downstairs is a public cafe (which is a feature — you can host informal meetings without committing to membership), upstairs is the membership floor. The Mitte location is genuinely the right address for solo founders who want to be at the centre of things.

The grown-up team option

WeWork at Sony Center in Potsdamer Platz is the answer for two-to-five-person teams who've outgrown the hot-desk life but aren't ready for their own lease. Post-restructure, the Berlin product has stabilised and the location-quality is consistently better than the operator's reputation. Well-equipped meeting rooms, decent coffee, the wider Sony Center building is a useful place to be.

The reliable chain

Spaces has done multiple Berlin sites and is the Mindspace-alternative for teams at scale. Mitte, Kreuzberg, and Friedrichshain locations, with the kind of consistency that means you can drop into any of them without being surprised. Reliable rather than exciting.

The smaller, sharper picks

Ahoy! in Wedding is member-led, design-forward, and smaller than the rest of this list. The community is vetted in practice if not in theory, and the kind of place where regulars actually know each other. Good for solo founders who want a calmer, more design-conscious environment.

Unicorn Workspaces is the chain operator that's quietly done a properly good Berlin build-out across several sites. Day-pass model works, the meeting rooms are decent, the network is broad rather than deep. Useful for visiting founders or for the kind of working schedule that wants flexibility without a single home.

The specialist picks

KAOS Berlin in Kreuzberg is smaller, creative-leaning, and the workshop and prototyping facilities make it a real option for hardware founders or product teams who actually need to physically build things. Different from the rest of the list for that reason — apply if you fit.

The Drivery in Friedrichshain is mobility-tech focused. Niche, but if you're in the space the network and the workshop access are properly valuable. Worth knowing if you're in automotive, e-mobility, or hardware-adjacent work.

How to choose

A few questions worth answering before paying:

  • Network or quiet? Factory, betahaus, St Oberholz if you want to be seen and the network compounds. Ahoy!, Mindspace Mitte, KAOS if you want to actually finish the deck.
  • Solo or team? WeWork Sony Center, Spaces, Mindspace handle teams properly. Factory, St Oberholz are better for solo founders who want the network.
  • Events programme matters? betahaus, Factory, Mindspace are the most consistent. The first two are the heaviest on demo nights and panels, betahaus has the most diverse programming.
  • Hardware? KAOS or The Drivery if you actually need to build things. Workshop access is the differentiator.

For a live filterable view of what specific events are running across these spaces in any given week, the Berlin startup events page (city-switchable) pulls all the major operator programmes — plus the wider Berlin startup calendar — into one feed. Useful for trial-period decision-making before you commit to a membership.

On membership maths

Useful rule of thumb in 2026: at around €3,500-€4,000/month total spend on memberships and meeting rooms, you're getting close to the breakeven for your own lease in Mitte or Kreuzberg. Below that, the operator model wins on flexibility. Above it, the maths bends fast — and the equity-deal for serviced offices via the larger landlords is also an option worth considering.

What I've left off

A few of the recently-opened operators that haven't earned destination-grade membership yet, and the smaller cafe-coworking spots that are really just cafes with table space rather than membership operators. The ten above are what I'd actually join in 2026 — pick on what you need most this year, and renew if it's working.
